Office Space

First official day in the office of Manning Road Methodist Church in Durbs (the South African nickname for Durban, South Africa). Have already stalled the car twice today, trying to get it out of the parking lot (car park), just missed hitting a monkey crossing the road yesterday, and am currently eating a microwave meal from Woolworth's - something I never thought I'd do. (Woolworth's in South Africa is actually quite posh...or larney, as they say :o) But, nonetheless, when in South Africa, do as an American in South Africa would do. This is a hugely exciting an ponderous time in my life - I feel very thankful to be here, thankful for all the prayers and effort that have been put forth so that I could make this journey.

My hope with this blog is that I'll be able to share parts of this journey - one that I know will have much joy and many tears. There is a spirit and feel about this place unlike anything I've ever experienced, and I hope that I can convey it to you, whom I love - and hear your thoughts back through this page or through email. Much, much love from the southern hemisphere, where it is winter, indeed, at at beautiful 65 degrees...
